I am waiting for my life to be a love letter too.
I know that you wrote it three times:
“I am, I am, I am”
I know,
I know you felt
I am drowning,
I am floating,
I am drowning.
Sometimes I wonder if heaven would be easier;
easier, being full of people like you – like me.
Or have I got the word wrong?
Maybe not heaven.
Are your feet cold, Sylvia?
One day I will stand in Boston.
Because I want to know what the
heart of a poet looks like.
I am scared to cut myself open.
Please hide all the knives.
Virginia drowned herself and you know
what I imagine?
She may have looked like a mermaid.
with those
black locks, like seaweed streamers.
You and I know better than that, Sylvia.
Lungs are deep
And in the time that they take to fill,
you can fight the rapids.
So, empty the bottle.
Flick the switch.
“I am, I am, I am.”
Make it quick.
Make it
quick.
I know what gas tastes like, too.
