From the director: This film tells the silent one-day story of seven mothers from seven different regions of Turkey who each lost a child from human-caused tragedies and how they battle against injustice and deaf ears from the government.

Ufuk Erden, was born in 1982 in one of the slums of Istanbul, Turkey. He completed his bachelor’s degree in Marketing at Anadolu University in 2007 and started his professional career in sales. Simultaneously, he was also a theater actor during the weekends. His interest in cinema led him into taking an eight-week short course in screenplay writing at the Sinematek Society, also in Istanbul. After which, he realized two short films both as the screenplay writer and director. He then decided to quit theater and concentrate in film making, thus forming a group called proletarYApim in 2011. He performs the role of a producer, screenplay writer and director in all of his short film projects generally tackling social responsibilities and political issues, including an animation film. His last short fiction film earned him a six months course on production at Yapimlab İnstitute, Istanbul. Without Him/Her is his very first feature film. Currently, he also has documentary and long film projects under preparation phase.
