From the director: For my final project at Kingston Foundation, I wanted to look into what is and can be hidden from view. I wanted to look into things that people don’t like talking about and our secrecy around these taboos. I have achieved this by looking into a topic that a lot of people don’t like to talk about – sex. My final piece is intended for young girls and discusses their bodies, to help them feel comfortable about themselves and encourage them not to be influenced by others. My final piece for my FMP is an animated interview with a 15-year-old girl who describes her experiences with shaving her pubic hair and the social pressure on girls having to do it, particularly focused around school. I have animated scenes that relate to her stories and captured her body language during the interview. I used a fine liner to draw each frame, which created a jittery style and a visual link to pubic hair.
