I’ve kept all my green leaves inside
it’s been winter for years
trees have blossomed all around me
but I’ve prepared for frost
not trusting the seasons
not trusting my forest
refusing to act on the sunlight
too scared to be exposed and vulnerable
in case frost comes sneaking in
even during heat
