Shahrzad Dadgar is an award-winning filmmaker and photographer. Born in 1989 in Hamedan, Iran, Ms. Dadgar was trained as an architect and engineer before pursuing a film career. As an artist, Shahrzad's work focuses on promoting understanding of women's empowerment, and women who have suffered from sexual issues. Her last short film, "Highlight," deals with gender inequality. Her first short film "500 Ounces of Gold", tells the story of a religious woman who has to made a deeply profound decision about abortion. Shahrzad has received the coveted Golden Gazzale from the Persian International Film Festival in Australia as well as "Best Inspirational Women in Film" award from the online Festigious Film Festival of Los Angeles. She received the "Best Script" award for "500 Ounces of Gold" from the Cervaignano Film Festival in Italy. Having earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Urban Engineering from Azad University in Hamedan, Iran, Ms. Dadgar is now attending Jacksonville University's College of Fine Arts in Florida on a Talent Scholarship Grant, and continuing to make independent films.
