From the director and artist: "Shelter" is the story of a strange young girl who finds herself at the door of a "bad man." It's a magical realist piece, and very much open to interpretation, but at its heart are questions about misogyny, entrapment and escape.
Jethro has been making films since he first got his hands on a super 8 camera at the age of 12. Born in England, living in France, Jethro studied Russian in Manchester & St Petersburg before embarking on his career as a director. His long documentary work includes co-directing a behind the scenes look at Moscow’s Bolshoi Theatre, and “The Clown” (in production) about clowns and clown cultures around the world. Jethro makes his living with music video & commercial film, but is now focusing more and more on fiction work. “Shelter” and “Broken Glass” are Jethro’s first serious fiction pieces, and he has just completed writing on his first feature film script, “Marlene."
